How do I know the expiry date of the employment contract?

The expiry date of the employment contract should be based on the expiry date of the visa in the maid ’s passport, not the date of signing on the green or blue employment contract.

When should the renewal of workers begin?

It is best for employers to discuss contract renewal with the maid 4 months before the contract expiration date. If the maid agrees to renew the contract, the contract can be renewed 2 months before the visa expiry date.

When should renewed workers start returning home for vacation?

Within two months before the visa expiry date, the maid should stay in Hong Kong until the visa is approved before returning to her place of origin. The maid needs to return to her place of residence within one year after the visa is granted.
Note that the contract states that you need to return to your place of origin for no less than 7 days, so you cannot go to Macau on the same day.

When can I transfer to a maid?

Employers can first pay HK $ 780 for the maid to sign in. If the maid and the employer agree, you can sign the contract at any time, but the company can only handle the contract at the consulate at the earliest one month before the contract. The company is only responsible for handling documents and cannot guarantee that the maid will not withdraw midway. The employer Need to bear the risk. The company will not receive the original passport of the transfer maid.

Can I request a date for the visa wholesale to transfer?

No. Because the visa is wholesale by the Immigration Department, it usually takes about 3-6 weeks (excluding holidays). None of us can control and require wholesale visa time, so employers need to be mentally prepared. Maid cannot work immediately after contract.

Why should employers not ignore the importance of maid inspection before renewing or hiring Filipino maids?

First of all, according to labor laws, after the employer officially renews the Filipino Maid ’s contract, he cannot decide to dismiss the maid when the Filipino Maid suffers from a long-term illness and the doctor determines that he has the right to paid sick leave. Before hiring or renewing a contract with a Filipino maid, a maid inspection is conducted to minimize this risk.
